The Sun Goddess

Posted by blueheronbobcat on February 24, 2012

I took this photo last year and, of course, added the light beams. The model brought some shiny objects that she thought we might use as props. I love her graceful, yet powerful stance. Every time I look at the photo my mind thinks of a sun goddess gently making sure her creation is performing as it should. If you think that’s pretty wacky, let me know what comes to your mind as you look at the photo.

Trouble at Swampwater

Posted by blueheronbobcat on January 31, 2012

This looks like the Wild West, but it’s really just a monthly shooting competition of the Lake County (Florida) Pistoleros. There is a wide assortment of authentic and replica firearms in play, and the contestants all dress in cowboy era attire. I was attending as a spectator (photographer) and was dressed in “normal” clothing. All during the competition people would come up to me and ask why I was dressed so funny. I enjoyed watching and photographing their event.

Ford Popular

Posted by blueheronbobcat on January 3, 2012

The Ford Popular is best known as a car from Ford built in England between 1953 and 1962. When launched, it was Britain’s lowest priced car. I saw this automobile recently in a parking lot. I don’t remember seeing one before. It’s a cool looking car.

Mel’s Drive-in

Posted by blueheronbobcat on December 27, 2011

No, this isn’t the REAL Mel’s Drive-in in Hollywood. But it’s a pretty cool replica at Universal Studios Florida. I spent a day there over the holidays and enjoyed the nostalgia of this setting.

Another photo from St. Martin. The weather was pleasantly warm, but not too warm, for this gentleman to enjoy a little public relaxation.

Straw Hats

Posted by blueheronbobcat on December 8, 2011

Traveled down to St. Thomas and St. Martin recently. Saw these hats at a street market in St. Martin and thought they looked interesting the way they were arranged.

Ice Woman

Posted by blueheronbobcat on July 16, 2010

The title of this post refers only to the solarize effect I used on this photo, which I think makes it look like ice. It does not refer to the beautiful model, Barbara, who is very friendly and witty and does not have an icy personality in any way. I took some photos of her recently and really liked the penetrating eyes of this one. With the icy effect, it makes her look to me like she has super powers which can turn her into an Ice Woman, and I almost feel like she could use those powers to turn me into ice with her glance if she wanted to.🙂

This is the original photo which shows her in her normal non-Ice Woman mode.

Cinderella’s Slippers

Posted by blueheronbobcat on July 14, 2010

These are some shoes that Briana (see post below) was going to wear for our photo session, but we never got around to using them. They looked pretty on the front porch in front of the rocking chair. I wasn’t going to photograph them but I was coaxed into it by my wife. I’m glad I did.

I have been wanting to learn more about portrait photography, so I asked a friend if she would be willing to let me photograph her. She is a beautiful young lady, and has some interesting hats that she wanted to model. The photo shoot was done outdoors, in the evening, in Florida, with mosquitos. She was a trooper and hung in there with me for a little over an hour. These are a couple of my favorite shots.

Miami, from the eye of a Fish

Posted by blueheronbobcat on July 8, 2010

This is another of the Miami skyline photos from my recent visit there. Even though the Miami skyline is beautiful I didn’t want it to get boring just showing photos of the skyline from my point of view. So I decided to show the skyline through the eye of a fish. Well, not really….but you already knew that. I used a fisheye distortion filter on one of my photos to produce this effect.
